For many of us, the traditional "New Year's Resolution" ends up being an absurd and predictable act of inner-war, declared against ourselves annually. It's usually a war between the part of us that is afraid/stuck/suffering in some area of life, and the part of us that is MAD or ashamed at us for having the problem at all. Plus, if we fail at our "resolution," we shame and yell at ourselves even more - reinforcing all our negative beliefs. Then maybe we become totally resigned, or try to get even more harsh and authoritarian with ourselves. This approach gets us nowhere healthy, and certainly doesn't feel good!

Thankfully, there are FUN alternatives to the Resolution/Inner War cycle! If we shift gears and engage with our CREATIVITY to set our intention for the year, this invites intuition, feelings, heart, soul, and guidance (rather than just shaming/angry/limited thoughts and beliefs). Making a VISION COLLAGE is a fantastic way to practice this! (The origninal "Visioning" collage process comes from Luccia Cappaccione).

Career Coach Angela Lussier and I are facilitating an Anti New Years Resolution party where you can come MAKE YOUR OWN VISION COLLAGE FOR 2010 (AND eat a great breakfast in your pjs)! CLICK HERE FOR EVENT INFO.

I'll be Angela's co-host and will help facilitate the project. I love making collages and Vision Boards -- it's just so much more fun than affirmations or resolutions. I can't reccomend a more inspiring art-based way to get ready for a healthier, happier new year!

Do you remember the Super Friends? If so, you'll fondly recall The Wonder Twins. "Wonder Twin powers: ACTIVATE!" While Angela Lussier and I are not actually twins (she's like four feet taller than me), we're a comparably fantastic, stylish, civic-minded, and visionary pair when we squish our magic rings together. We're currently working on new ways to combine our powers to create more awesomeness to share with you this year. The two main things on deck are 1. A two-county project called the Do What You Love group and 2. An Anti New Year's Resolution party where you can eat breakfast and engage your creative side to get your mojo moving for the new year.

Really, it's all about combining our powers with your powers in order to ACTIVATE healthy new direction and creativity. Maybe by the new year, Angela and I will firgure out how to transform into an eagle and a bucket of water on demand (like the Wonder Twins could). Now that's creative!

I'm helping Dana build a brand spankin' new website, because she's got too much going on to have a stale old website holding her back! Dana's new website is built on the SquareSpace platform, which allows her to add and edit her own content, make updates, and even fool around with the colors and layout if she gets inspired!

If you have any comments about the site design so far (it's still under construction) leave a comment below.

Also, we're doing this as cheap as we can because Dana is AWESOME...but she does live in a society that has trouble paying that Artists and Teachers what they are worth. If you would like to help offset the cost of this site, please use the donation button below. All donations will go directly towards the design, maintenence, and hosting of DanaWildeArts.Com. Thanks!
